PE & Sports Premium


The government is providing additional funding of £150 million per annum for the academic years 2013 to 2017 to improve provision of physical education (PE) and sport in primary schools/academies. This funding is ring-fenced and therefore can only be spent on provision of PE and sport in schools/academies.

Bell Lane Academy has received £9,245 for the academic year 2016-17 which is being spent on the following:

  • Buying in to the services of a specialist PE coordinator (working with several schools/academies in the local area) to support staff in further developing PE provision across the academy.
  • Contributing towards the organisation of and transport to a range of inter-school/academy sports activities and competitions.
  • Part funding of a support assistant to support with Key Stage Two Games sessions, PE across the academy and to run a free after-hours club.
  • Purchasing additional and replacement equipment for PE and playtime activities.
